Voices of Masada were born from the ashes of a multitude of differing directions, coming together in their gigging incarnation in September of 2002.
From then on, work began in earnest, polishing the old songs and creating new ones, before their first offering, Prelude was pressed in the spring of 2003. Originally intended purely as a device to reach promoters and djs, it soon became their first commercial product at the insistenence of both fans and shops - an indication of the potential that the band was showing.
Voices of Masada's first live debut, officially, was on 22nd July 2003, as part of the Gothic Summer organised by Neon Promotions, and from then on it was a rolecoaster ride around much of England and the year ended with their first international gig, in Italy.
The journey continued in the new year with gigs up and down the country, with much of their spare time spent recording Four Corners, which was released in November 2004. 8 songs, with the original three re-recorded to do themn better justice, and the band continued on the upwards, returning to Italy and playing a few more UK festivals.
2005 saw the band continue their slow, upward march whilst working on new songs. More festivals were played as well, this time with an international one (Judgement Day in Austria) and then, after many months of toil and frustration (and the wonderful help of DJ Psyche), they start the autumn with their North American Tour, featuring 6 gigs in 7 days and over 3500 miles travelled - a mind numbing, torturous journey involving too much alcohol, too little sleep and too many people in one small vehicle. It was a miracle to everyone that they survived the journey, but they not only survived, they came back to do continue their advance with their first live recording and interview for Redemption TV in the late autumn before taking a bit of a break from the live scene whilst work began in earnest on more new songs for the second album,
2006 saw the continuation of working on new songs and a new direction for the feel of the music, and then the surprise of 2006 (so far at least) was their appearance at WGT - to over 1200 fans from all round the world.
The rest of the summer was spent in the studio, recording and mixing and the endless grind that the new album exerted on them, and then at the very beginning of September, it was over. A new album recorded - and to cap it all, they also get signed to Strobelight Records. With the second album's release date as the 20th October, the band then get on with organising more gigs to help promote the album.
VoM score sheet, in case you were wondering...
